999 Health-net covers the indications and side-effects of certain drugs
known as skeletal muscle relaxants (SMR's) and others called muscle
relaxers. Muscle relaxants help relax muscles, ease pain, and reduce
stiffness. They are used to treat injury or other conditions affecting
muscles. SMR's are used in surgery and intubations and are different
than muscle relaxants.
Soma
Soma (CARISOPRODOL) is a Muscle Relaxer. Soma is used to treat the pain
and stiffness that result from muscle spasms.
Cyclobenzaprine
Cyclobenzaprine is the generic form of Flexeril. Cyclobenzaprine is a
skeletal muscle relaxant. Cyclobenzaprine relieves muscle spasms of
local origin but is not effective in spasms which originate from
diseases in the brain or spinal cord.
Flexeril
Flexeril is a muscle relaxant prescribed to relieve muscle spasms
resulting from injuries such as sprains, strains, or pulls. Combined
with rest and physical therapy, Flexeril provides relief of muscular
stiffness and pain. Improvement is manifested by relief of muscle spasm
and its associated signs and symptoms, namely, pain, tenderness,
limitation of motion, and restriction in activities of daily living.
Skelaxin
Skelaxin is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or
pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Skelaxin is used, along
with rest and physical therapy, to treat injuries and other painful
muscular conditions.
Zanaflex
